Interesting article but it doesn't include the planetary impacts of AI in regards to energy and water use . If we are to embrace it for good (instead of attempting to restrict it, such as campaigning against data centres) how do we deal with these impacts? Afterall Norway's fund depends on continuing to destroy the living planet, so not that great.

I appreciate your staking out new territory here. I produced a daylong program about UBI a lot of years ago, that wasn’t yet named and only had a little European experimentation in play, so I’ve been on that bandwagon a long time, thinking how vital it would become. This introduced new thinking, not welfare but benefit, that I like a lot.

What occurred to me was that instead of dividends for people, why not put the money into what the government supplies, like free health care and getting the homeless off the streets — all the social things we’re short on?
